College Footballs Biggest Disappointments of 2007
College Football's Biggest Disappointments of 2007

#15 – Oklahoma Sooners

Can you really call the Big XII champions a disappointment? We think you can when the Sooners looked like a national championship favorite at several points during the 2007 season, but they stumbled twice against lesser teams. Ranked third in the country on September 29, they lost 27-24 at Colorado (who finished 6-7). Ranked fourth and back in the national title picture on November 17, Sam Bradford got hurt and the Sooners lost 34-27 at Texas Tech (who finished 9-4, 4-4 in conference). Finally, with one last chance to make a positive statement in the Fiesta Bowl, the Sooners got steamrolled by West Virginia 48-28. The Sooners finished 11-3 and ranked eighth in the country, which is a great season, but it could have been so much more.

Florida remains atop BCS poll

The Gators host Florida State in their final hurdle until the SEC Championship game.
Florida remains atop the latest Bowl Championship Series standings, as the top seven teams kept their spots from the previous week.

While the standings remained the same, the space between the top two teams shrank. This week, the Gators (11-0) garnered a .9664 average while Alabama (11-0) is second at .9614. Last week, Florida had a .9833 average and the Crimson Tide ranked second with a .9521 average, with that number being computed by averaging the percentage totals of the Harris Interactive poll, USA Today poll and computer rankings.

Florida and Alabama both won big this weekend and have one final hurdle remaining until the SEC Championship Game on December 5, which figures to serve as a de facto national semifinal if both stay undefeated until that date. The Gators host Florida State on Saturday, while the Crimson Tide visit Auburn for their annual Iron Bowl matchup. ... Continue
