Top 20 Football Factories in Texas
Top 20 Football Factories in Texas

#1 Carter Cowboys. The Cowboys program became synomous with the phrase "football factory" in the late 80's and early 90's. Over 100 Division 1 scholarships have been handed out to players who have passed through this South Dallas neighborhood. None is more legendary than 1988 grad Jessie Armstead. His play on the field was relentless and his sideline to sideline stalking of opposing running backs made him the first player to ever earn Parade All-American honors 3 years in a row. He played 11 seasons in the NFL for the New York Giants and Washington Redskins and played in 5 consecutive Pro Bowls (1997-2001). Other noteable alums include 49'er defensive back Chet Brooks who started in Super Bowl XXIV. Former Chiefs standout running back Greg Hill who was a #1 draft pick in 1994. Former FSU standout Clifton Abraham who played for Tampa Bay, Carolina and the Chicago Bears. Le'Shai Maston who played fullback for the Houston Oilers, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Washington Redskins. 1997 grad. Jerametrius Butler played with the St. Louis Rams for 6 years. Too many other promising prospects to name that never made it to the pros for one reason or another but the next big star in the making is Texas Tech sophomore receiver Michael Crabtree.
