When over 14,000 fans start yelling and it bounces off those Black & Gold cement walls it sounds like over 20,000. You can't hear yourself think in Memorial Gym. The lighting is great for televised games and tv announcers have mentioned that on several occasions. Players lov ethe wide floor so they can go after loose balls without winding up in the seats like at Rupp. Memorial Gym over Rupp hands down.

"These two shouldn't even be in the same poll. I\'ve been to both. It isn't even close. Rupp wins hands down. Memorial is very small like a high school gym. Even when full it doesn't get loud. Rupp is deafening."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

WOW. Gotta love those 14,000 seat high school gyms. Are you kidding me? Rupp's like watching a game in a library compared to Memorial. Reminds me of Munn Ice Arena (Mich St hockey). Everybody talks it up, but the game atmosphere sucks. Not to mention the complete lack of character. Rupp is an incredibly overrated arena that would have absolutely no fame if not for the success of the team that plays in it (which is not what we're voting on).

Not even close
The big, bland convention center vs. the unique, old-school gym. Kentucky's Memorial Coliseum is 10X better than that municipal disaster named after Rupp.

Opponents hate it and dog it to no end, but Memorial Gym is one of the most unique places in basketball. No place is more deafening when the three pointers start raining.

If we're voting basketball tradition, Kentucky wins hands down. If we're voting strictly on the venue, Rupp can't hold a candle to Memorial Gym.

I can tell you from experience that when Memorial gets loud, it is DEAFENING. Rupp cannot boast a deafening sound.

And to all the haters in te Blue Mist who hate our court, it was ADOLPH RUPP who requested the floor be raised because he couldn't see from the sideline benches. Your godsend gave us the arena's individuality, and it is a far better place than your dump.

Rupp has ZERO character
Zero. There's nothing even remotely special about it.
#9 - Conquer and Prevail - 04/26/2009 - 21:26
I can\'t believe that anyone would sit here and even try to compare Memorial to Rupp. The seatsin the upper deck in the Looooooooong end are so far away from the floor that it has a different zip code. Who designed that dump. Not only id Memorial not comparable to Rupp, it is the worse venue in the SEC. UT evn scoffs at that archaic cavern.

That is the most dissappointing place that I have EVER watched a basketball game. I\'d take the nose bleed at Rupp any day over watching a game from the next county ouside of Gnashville!
#8 - Walter Leonard - 04/25/2009 - 06:14
Rupp and Vandy\'s gym shouldn\'t be mentioned in the same sentence. There is no comparison. There is no place better than Rupp.
#7 - weedhopper41 - 04/25/2009 - 03:07
Rupp is a boring downtown arena
Rupp is vastly overrated. The rich and powerful Big Blue donors sit on their hands, and any homecourt "advantage" is only because UK used to have really good teams every year.
#6 - Conquer and Prevail - 04/24/2009 - 17:33
These two are not even close
Rupp is by far a better arena than Vandy's oddball gym.
