Did not see Allen Field House

It IS the arena
You're right, smarty, it IS about the arena (but not the fans as you seem to claim-- though you don't want it to be about the fans anyway). Believe it or not, our arena is better. You see, part of the arena is the atmosphere, and part of the atmosphere are the events that occurred there. You should just be happy that it is relatively close. It should be a 20% margin at least.

BTW- I voted 5 times, but, then again, I have 5 computers and they all love AFH.

Really?
First time I went to AFH it was to watch Wilt Chamberlain play for the Hawks. It's just gotten better ever since.

Its the Arena
As a Lobo fan, We all know Kansas has more tradition and better program. This is a vote about the arena and the crowd.

To stay the Pit is not in the Top 10 is incorrect statement. Please ask Lute Olson who refused to play there because he could not win there even with a team that won a National championshp.

Ask Rick Majerous who could not win in the PIT, See Jerry Tarkanian and his losing record in the Pit. See Don Haskins with a losing record in the Pit....Kansas has a better program but for a big game and pure noise factor. The Pit is right there with the Allen Field House if not a tougher place to play.

And yes, I have seen a game at Allen Field house in person. The waving of the wheat is impressive ( but so midwest). The Pit is louder and has been measured to louder than a jet ( 140 Decibles) Good luck Hawks

los loney lobos
KU second 5 would crush NM with AFH empty
#61 - brian conrad - 05/07/2009 - 18:36
lobo what
bring in big 12 . lobos would never win 50% AT HOME. this is a joke AFH and who?
#60 - lobo who - 05/07/2009 - 18:33
Admittedly biased
I haven't been to The Pit but I've never experienced anything in any sporting arena like Allen Fieldhouse. Maybe the noise in the pit comes close, maybe the fans come close, but when you see the 52 Conference Championships listed on banners along the east and west sides, the "Pay Heed, All Who Enter: Beware of the Phog" banner over the 5 national championship banners (3 NCAA and 2 Helms) on the north wall, and the south wall lined with retired jerseys like Danny Manning, Paul Pierce, Jo Jo White, and Wilt freaking Chamberlain all of whom played in this very same arena, you'll realize you're not in New Mexico any more, Pedro. No standing venue in college basketball can match the combination of history, tradition, excellence, and p!@#$%ion that exists inside Allen Fieldhouse.

As someone who did much of their undergraduate study at UNM but received his degree from the University of Kansas I have to place my vote for Allen Field House. There are some interesting features related to The Pit but NO PLACE is steeped in the tradition of AFH. Some argue that you cannot confuse the basketball tradition with the facility but, somehow, that tradition has seeped into the walls and sets at AFH and there is no escaping it.

Dumps.
Rupp Arena and The Pit are both dumps. It should be between !@#$%embly Hall and Allen Fieldhouse.

Mandlebaum! Mandlebaum! Mandlebaum!
Like Jerry Seinfeld said to Izzy Mandelbaum: "I'm not sure how official any of these rankings are."

That being said, if you're voting for The Pit, arguably a top 10 arena in college basketball at best (no I haven't been there--I save my money to go to tournament games), you're either surrounded by pueblos, or misspell your school by using two Z's. Regardless, thanks to the New Mexico contingent for taking out Cameron Indoor for us. That was real nice of you. If you're arena was so awesome, you might actually make a tourney appearance once in a while. I mean don't you play approximately half your games there?
