Pasadena, CA (Sports Network) - Mark Sanchez threw for 269 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead No. 5 Southern California in a rout of UCLA, 28-7, as the Trojans earned the Pac-10 title and a Rose Bowl bid.

Sanchez finished 18-of-33 with an interception and added 24 yards on the ground for the Trojans (11-1, 8-1 Pac-10), who have won nine in a row and will face Penn State on New Year's Day in the Rose Bowl. Joe McKnight gained 99 yards on 15 carries with a score, and Stafon Johnson logged 47 yards and a TD on 16 carries in the win.

Patrick Turner had five catches for 81 yards and a touchdown, while Damian Williams totaled 68 yards on three grabs with a score for USC, which captured its seventh straight Pac-10 title (Pac-10 record), seventh consecutive 11-win season (NCAA record) and seventh BCS game in a row (NCAA record).

Kevin Craft had a rough day under center, going 11-for-28 for just 89 yards with an interception for the Bruins (4-8, 3-6), who, under first-year head coach Rick Neuheisel, secured their first eight-loss season since 1963. Kahlil Bell gained 39 yards on 15 carries and had a 21-yard touchdown reception, which was thrown by Dominique Johnson. Johnson led all UCLA receivers with 36 yards on three catches.

"I think Kevin (Craft) played hard," said UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel. "I think he worked hard to manage games and to learn our offense. This isn't personally directed at Kevin, but the quarterback at UCLA has to play better. For us to be the kind of team we want to be, the position of quarterback has to be played better - that means we have to coach it better and we have to perform better and have more competition at that position."

The Trojans outrushed the Bruins 209-47 and posted 478 total yards to UCLA's 157.

UCLA went three-and-out on the opening drive of the game. However, on USC's first play from scrimmage, Brian Price hit C.J. Gable to jar the ball loose. Korey Bosworth fell on the ball and the Bruins took over at the Trojans' 20- yard-line.

Three plays later, Dominique Johnson hit Bell for a 21-yard TD strike down the middle of the field that gave UCLA a 7-0 lead with 11:07 left in the opening stanza.

USC then drove 40 yards down to the UCLA 24 where the drive stalled. David Buehler came on to attempt a 41-yard field goal, but he kicked it wide-right.

Another Bruins three-and-out followed, and the Trojans capitalized on the opportunity. USC embarked on a seven-play, 72-yard drive that saw Sanchez complete an eight-yard pass to Anthony McCoy on 4th-and-4 from UCLA's 35.

A pass interference call on Michael Norris moved the ball to the 12, before McKnight found the end zone on a reverse to the right side which tied it up, 7-7, with 3:34 showing on the clock.

On UCLA's ensuing possession, USC was flagged for an offsides penalty on first down. Despite only having five yards to gain for a new set of downs, the Bruins were held to a three-and-out.

The Trojans started at their own 40 and finished in the end zone, as Sanchez hit Williams for a 12-yard catch-and-run TD to make it 14-7 late in the first.

With 7:41 left in the second quarter, USC set out on an efficient drive from its own 30 that lasted almost six minutes.

The Trojans moved the ball to the into Bruins territory before facing a 4th- and-17. USC was forced to punt, but a roughing the kicker call on Jerry Johnson gave the Trojans new life at the UCLA 33.

Six plays later, Price was called for roughing the passer to advance the ball to the two-yard-line. Stafon Johnson punched it in from there, and USC boasted a 21-7 lead, which held up through the half.

USC opened the second half with a drive from its own 34. Sanchez hit Ronald Johnson for a 23-yard gain on first down and, five plays later, hit Turner for an 18-yard score down the middle of the field to make it 28-7 with 12:31 left in the third stanza.

Neither team managed to score for the remainder of the game, and the Trojans rolled to victory.

"I thought we had a terrific football season," said USC head coach Pete Carroll. "I'm really proud of the consistency. I'm proud that we've kept the program at the top of the conference. Defense was the key today. We played great, and we only gave up one play."
