Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - The 2010 NIT continues tonight, as the St. John's Red Storm square off against the Memphis Tigers in first-round action at the FedExForum. The winner of this game will move on to face either Ole Miss or Troy in the second round. Playing in the difficult Big East Conference, St. John's still managed to win 17 games overall, marking its highest win total since the 2002-03 season. SJU is making its 28th all-time appearance in the NIT and the program is 40-25 in the event. The Red Storm actually had five more victories and a championship to its credit in 2003, but that was vacated by the NCAA in 2006. Memphis, meanwhile, had its dominant run in Conference USA come to an end, finishing second in the league during the regular season and losing in the quarterfinals of the conference tourney. The Tigers are still a solid 23-9 overall, including 16-3 at home, so they have nothing to be ashamed of. This is Memphis' 17th NIT appearance, the first since 2005, and the club is 19-15 all-time in the event. ...
