General News Virginia center Sene suspended three games |
Charlottesville, VA (Sports Network) - Virginia sophomore center Assane Sene has been suspended for the first three games of the regular season for conduct detrimental to the team.
"We have expectations for the individuals in our program that Assane has not met," Cavaliers coach Tony Bennett said. "He will not play in our closed scrimmage with St. John's on Sunday and in the first three games of the regular season, but will practice with the team. My hope is Assane will learn from this situation as we move forward."
The 7-foot Sene, who averaged 2.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and paced the team with 35 blocked shots last season, will miss Virginia's season-opener with Longwood on November 13, a game at South Florida three days later and a November 19 home game with Rider.
