Buffalo OL West suspended by MAC

Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - University of Buffalo senior offensive lineman Andrew West was given a one-game suspension by the Mid-American Conference Friday for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The incident took place in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's 27-24 loss to Ohio when West was ejected due to a flagrant personal foul. On the play, Buffalo quarterback Zach Maynard's pass was intercepted by Ohio's Thad Turner and during the return West was flagged for the personal foul against an Ohio defensive lineman.

"The behavior of Andrew West during the Buffalo - Ohio contest is unacceptable and will not be tolerated," said Dr. Jon Steinbrecher, commissioner of the MAC. "I want to thank Buffalo head coach Turner Gill and director of athletics Warde Manuel for the proactive manner in which they have addressed this matter."

West will be able to return to regular season action on Friday, November 27 at Kent State.

Florida remains atop BCS poll

The Gators host Florida State in their final hurdle until the SEC Championship game.
Florida remains atop the latest Bowl Championship Series standings, as the top seven teams kept their spots from the previous week.

While the standings remained the same, the space between the top two teams shrank. This week, the Gators (11-0) garnered a .9664 average while Alabama (11-0) is second at .9614. Last week, Florida had a .9833 average and the Crimson Tide ranked second with a .9521 average, with that number being computed by averaging the percentage totals of the Harris Interactive poll, USA Today poll and computer rankings.

Florida and Alabama both won big this weekend and have one final hurdle remaining until the SEC Championship Game on December 5, which figures to serve as a de facto national semifinal if both stay undefeated until that date. The Gators host Florida State on Saturday, while the Crimson Tide visit Auburn for their annual Iron Bowl matchup. ... Continue
