Virginia Tech to play Cincinnati at Landover in 2012

Blacksburg, VA (Sports Network) - Virginia Tech and Cincinnati agreed on Monday to play a game at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland during the 2012 season.

"We are excited to have Cincinnati and Virginia Tech playing at FedExField," said Washington Redskins chief marketing officer Mitch Gershman. "This game, a rematch of the 2009 Orange Bowl, highlights two outstanding programs and continues FedEx Field's commitment to hosting the most competitive and nationally-acclaimed matchups."

While this will be the Bearcats' first visit to suburban Maryland, it will be the Hokies' third contest at the Redskins' home field. Virginia Tech hosted USC in 2004, and welcomes WAC power Boise State next year.

Following a 20-7 victory over Cincinnati in the Orange Bowl, Virginia Tech holds a slight 5-4 edge in all-time meetings.
