General News McNeese State adds transfer QB |
Lake Charles, LA (Sports Network) - Well-traveled quarterback Jacob Bower has joined the McNeese State football program as a transfer from the University of Tulsa.
The 25-year-old Bower will compete as a graduate student this season, and join in the competition while the Cowboys seek to replace Derrick Fourroux at quarterback.
Bower, from Meridian, Idaho, originally signed with Brigham Young out of high school. After a two-year mission, he was on the Cougars' 2006 roster but transferred following that season.
The 6-foot-4, 238-pounder led Bakersfield (Calif.) Junior College to a 12-1 record while throwing for 3,034 yards and 35 touchdowns in 2007. Over the last two seasons at Tulsa, he completed 26-of-51 passes for 327 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 150 yards and two TDs.
Bower is married, and he and his wife Rachel are expecting their first child later this month.
McNeese finished 9-3 last season, including a 6-1 mark in the Southland Conference.
