General News Akron approves extensions for Dambrot, Kest |
Akron, OH (Sports Network) - The University of Akron on Wednesday agreed to contract extensions with men's basketball coach Keith Dambrot and women's basketball coach Jodi Kest, while softball coach Julie Jones received a three- year contract.
Dambrot had a two-year extension approved and is now under contract through June 30, 2016. In his five years on the job, Dambrot has led the Zips to a 115-51 record and taken the team to the postseason for two straight years and three out of four overall. Akron has won at least 23 games for four straight seasons.
"I want to thank (University president) Dr. (Luis) Proenza, the Board of Trustees and Mack Rhoades for their continued support and shared vision for the success of Akron basketball," Dambrot said. "That collective group has provided our program with many of the resources needed to make it one of the best mid-major programs in the nation and to work further toward reaching the goal of building a top-25 program."
Kest was extended through June 30, 2014, while Jones' deal begins in September 2009 and runs through August 31, 2012.
