Kansas and other universities
Joe, you have many contradictions in your explanation for Kansas being the most storied program. You said Kansas is responsible for both Rupp and Smith, but you said not Kansas UNIVERSITY. Then you turn around and say that Kansas is the most storied program in division 1, but stated earlier in the paragraph that the UNIVERSITY wasn\'t responsible for neither Dean nor Smith. Don\'t believe this guys bull!@#$%, because Kansas is nowhere near the storied history of Kentucky or North Carolina, sorry. BTW, I am not a fan of any one university, but the last time I checked, Rupp Arena was the ONLY arena that hangs just NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP banners. Take with that what you will, but I believe Kentucky has the edge in both historical and monetary value.:-D

Hinkle?
Hinkle? Really? I have been to hinkle fieldhouse and it is historic place, but any stadium, fieldhouse or arena that hangs banners for participating in the NIT? compared to Allen, Cameron, Dean Center...Nah, not even in the same conversation. BTW - UK ready to make run? Yep straight to probation...

You act like two extra !@#$%les are nothing
so Kentucky leads by only two !@#$%les? I think Kentucky is a better tradition in college basketball (yeah, I know you have the inventor--but that still won't help you here).

To be honest, I don't think Kansas is either one or two...I think that argument is saved for North Carolina and Kentucky. And Kentucky is set to make another run...just like every other decade...

UK has dominated over the long haul.

Tradition
I think that these posts are are showing a lot of the worst of both Kansas and Kentucky fans. Both schools are powerhouses in basketball. As such, both deserve respect for their accomplishments.

I am a Kansas fan, and I happen to think that Kansas is the greatest tradition in college basketball. Kentucky leads by 18 wins all time, and a couple of championships. Put that in the balance on one side.

Kansas compares favorably in all time stats as above, but what Kentucky can not claim is...

1. The Inventor of basketball coaching at its school.
2. The first coach of the game coaching at its school.
3. Sending apprentices of Allen's to Kentucky and North Carolina who built programs that made them among the greatest traditions in the game.

Thats right. If there was no Rupp, thered be no Kentucky. If there was no Kansas thered be no Rupp.

If there was no Dean Smith, thered be no North Carolina. If there was no Kansas, thered be no Dean Smith.

Smith and Rupp are both Kansas products. No, not Kansas UNIVERSITY. I mean KANSANS. Rupp was from Halstead, Kansas and Smith was from Emporia, Kansas.

I say this respectfully. The paltry 18-win lead is overshadowed when on the other side of the scale you have one university--Kansas--being directly responsible for building the three greatest traditions in college basketball.

I say that to my Kentucky friends with the utmost respect for their program. I do not impune their program at all. It is a great tradition there. Simply put, however, when you take all the factors into consideration, Kansas is clearly the most storied program in all of Division I basketball.

Does anyone outside of Indiana know what Hinkle even is?
It's a great place to watch a game and legendary in terms of Indiana High School basketball.

However, I don't think it belongs in this group. It's not like it's been the scene of a lot of unbelievable college basketball moments caught on national tv.

Butler doesn't play in the Big Ten or the ACC. There's a huge difference in the quality of college basketball played at Hinkle and the quality of college basketball played at !@#$%embly Hall or Rupp Arena.

Hinkle, duh
Seriously... no Hinkle Fieldhouse??
This list has lost all credibility.

I'm surprised
UNLV's Thomas & Mack Center didn't make the list.

WOW
Hinkle Fieldhouse might be the best there is, and it's not in your bracket? Maybe you should take out the Palestra too?
