Week 6 Recruiting Roundup - Oklahoma State

Celina Linebacker Caleb Lavey
Started off district play with an impressive 48-14 victory over Sanger. Lavey led a Bobcat defense that was outstanding, holding the Indians' offense to just 58 yards rushing and two first downs in the first half of play. Celina is now 4-2 on the season.

Lavocheya Cooper Arp Athlete
Cooper was a force on both sides of the ball, leading the team on defense (12 tackles, 1 interception) and was effective on offense, rushing for 99 yards on 8 carries. His 90 yard interception return for a touchdown broke open a close game as Arp defeated Garrison 68-28.

Arlington Bowie Receiver Montra Nelson
Caught 5 passes for 54 yards in his team's 58-20 win over Mansfield. Has yet to have a big game statistically but that could be due to the scheme. The Volunteers have a number of talented receivers and the gameplan appears to be centered around getting as many of them involved as possible.

Arlington Bowie Defensive Tackle Diamonte Wheeler
Wheeler was once again a force in the middle of the Vols defense. His ability to stuff the run helped hold Mansfield to just 98 yards on 32 carries. Bowie is now 4-1 on the season and in the driver's seat to win the district title.

John Tyler Offensive Lineman Gerron Anthony
Graded out very high in the Lions' 59-28 victory over Mesquite Horn. John Tyler is now 6-0 on the season and moved into the top 10 (at number 9) for the first time this season. Anthony is not getting much work in pass protection as the offense averages just under 10 passes a game, however his mauling presence on the o-line is hard to miss. Whether he's driving his opponent into the ground or getting out in space to block, he's getting the job done on a consistent basis. The JT rushing attack is one of the best in the state thanks in large part to his play up front.

Galena Park North Shore Defensive Back Larry Stephens
The Mustangs fell out of the top 10 with a disappointing 7-6 loss on the road at Port Arthur Memorial. The game was played in horrible conditions as steady rain turned the field into a quagmire. Memorial only attemped six passes, completing one. Needless to say, Stephens wasn't able to record an interception and for that matter didn't see much action as the front seven was good - but not good enough to pitch a shutout.

Houston Bellaire Defensive End Joesph Okafor
Lost a hard-fought game to Madison, 35-28. Okafor and the rest of the Cardinals D-line was good against the run, yielding just 52 yards on 18 carries. Bellaire struggled to get consistent pressure on Madison quarterback Terrance Smith. Couple that with the inability to get some key stops at the end of the ballgame and it adds up to a loss. Madison is now in the driver's seat to win the district championship. Bellaire falls to 1-1 in district play.

San Antonio Madison Linebacker Kris Catlin
The Mavericks improved their district record to 3-1 with a convincing 27-3 victory over perennial powerhouse Smithson Valley. Catlin is the leader of the front seven and they held up well, giving up just 108 yards on 30 carries.

San Antonio Madison Safety Tommy Saunders
Coming off a bye week, Saunders and the rest of the Mavericks looked refueled. No interceptions but Saunders was good in pass coverage, helping to limit the Rangers' offense to 122 yards passing.

Cy-Ridge Receiver Kevin Johnson
Contributed just 2 catches for 19 yards but electrified the crowd with an 83 yard kickoff return for a touchdown in a 39-36 win over Cy-Fair. He also had 2 carries for 72 yards, including a 62 yarder for another score.
