Meet Waymon James

When people think of TCU and running backs these days they probably have one single image that comes to mind. LaDainian Tomlinson wearing his purple #5 Jersey. Sure names like Jim Swink and Kenneth Davis might also flash for Frog fans over the age of 35, but could TCU be ready for the next big name to hit Hell's half Acre? They better be.

Waymon James is a 5'9" 200 lb. star from Sherman, Texas. Considered by one recruiting service to be among the top 15 running backs in the country, James chose TCU over Georgia Tech, Texas Tech, and Nebraska.

While his size might not jump of the page at you his speed should. Clocking in with a 4.4 forty time, James shows tremendous speed, with a low center of gravity that helps him change directions on a dime.

While at Sherman, James was extremely productive rushing for 1,300, 1,500 and nearly 1,900 yards in his sophomore through senior season respectively. He would also have around 60 touchdowns by the end of his stellar career.

While some might guess that he will use his speed to get outside in space to be productive, they will be pleasantly surprised by his ability to run between the tackles. In fact rivals.com rated him as the 3rd best inside runner in the 2009 class.

With similar size to LaDainian Tomlinson, many will be quick to draw comparisons to the two. Maybe that is not a bad thing. While there is no way to know if he will ever get to the level of LT, he certainly arrives in Fort Worth more decorated than former Waco University Trojan.

With the graduation of tailback Aaron Brown, expect James to see the field for TCU, sooner than later.
