Prep Ticket 4A Top 10 - Week 9

The state's best teams have established themselves and with a week left in the regular season, most of these teams have playoff spots wrapped. And with the postseason looming, expect the action to get a little crazier as the match ups become more intense for the teams in this week's poll. (First-place votes in parentheses.)


1.  Lake Travis  (6)  (9-0)


Perfect offensive balance carried the Cavs to another blowout victory as Lake Travis gained over 210 yards passing and rushing to hand Dripping Springs its first loss of the season 42-3

2. Longview  (7-2)


The Lobos defense forced three turnovers and quarterback Aaron Johnson gained 195 total yards of offense to help Longview blow open a tight game and rout rival Pine Tree 41-14

3.  Everman  (9-0)


A tight game turned into a blowout as the Bulldogs scored touchdowns on four consecutive possessions, and got a season-high 217 yards from running back Ryan Smith, to down Mansfield Timberview 54-25

4. Highland Park  (9-0)


Despite allowing 628 yards of offense and losing two turnovers, the Scots' offense pulled out enough big plays to overcome Rockwall 49-39 in a shootout thanks to quarterback Luke Woodley's 418 passing yards and five touchdowns


Up next: at No. 7 Rockwall-Heath, Thursday  


5.  Dallas Carter  (9-0)


The Cowboys' ground attack rolled on gaining 415 yards, including 137 yards and three touchdowns by Dunston Owens, in a 49-0 pasting of North Dallas

6.  Wolfforth Frenship  (9-0)


Quarterback Tyler Lloyd passed for 143 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 28 yards and another score to help the Tigers down Abilene Coper 16-10

7.  Rockwall-Heath  (9-0)


Running back Kendial Lawrence ran for 112 yards and four touchdowns on just seven carries, helping Heath crush R.L. Turner 53-0

8.  Aledo  (9-0)


Running back Jonathan Grey rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns as the Bearcats grounded Mineral Wells 61-7 with 388 rushing yards


Up next: vs. Birdville, Friday


9. Hewitt Midway  (8-1)


Senior running back John Hubert rushed for 303 yards and two touchdowns to lead Midway past rival Waco 26-14 and keep a shot at the District 16-4A title alive

10. Denison (9-0)


The Yellow Jackets were held under 44 points for the first time all season, yet still pounded Frisco Centennial 35-16; Denison goes for an undefeated season in the 110th installment of the Battle of the Ax

Dropped out: Alamo Heights defeated No. 9 Kerrville Tivy 28-21
