Mesquite's Marcus Trice commits to OU

In April, Mesquite High School Senior Defensive Back Marcus Trice didn't have any college scholarship offers. After impressive showings at the Ft. Worth Nike Camp and the recent Texas 7 on 7 State Championships in College Station, things are very different.

With word quickly circulating around recruiting circles about the 5 foot 8 dynamo, he finally got the offer he wanted.

"I committed to the University of Oklahoma," Trice said. "OU is a winning program. They have an amazing team offensively and defensively. They're in the Big XII, they play in BCS games and they're national title contenders every year. They're close to where I'm from in Missouri and they're close to where I play football now in Mesquite, Texas. It was just a perfect fit for me for all of those reasons."

Although Trice is a defensive back, he has the versatility to play receiver and was virtually unstoppable at the 7 on 7 state championships in College Station.

Trice consistently outleaped and outran anyone who tried to cover him. Although he lacks the prototypical size that college coaches covet, he makes up for it with boundless energy and athleticism that's off the charts.
