Hightower jumps on Eisenhower's miscues

SUGARLAND?Hightower capitalized on two turnovers to take an early lead on Eisenhower and never let go.

The first on a fumble scooped up by Uchenna Nwabuika to set up a touchdown drive and the second on an interception caught by Dele Junaid, who ran the ball 41 yards to put the Hurricanes up 14-0.

The Eagles fought back but Hightower held on for a 35-21 win Friday at Mercer Stadium.

The Hurricanes went into halftime with a 21-14 lead and kept the Eagles off the board in the third quarter.

Hightower shredded Eisenhower's defense for 410 yards of total offense. Quarterback AJ Highsmith completed 12 of 23 passes for 246 yards, including two touchdowns. Wide receiver Lydell Williams caught both touchdowns and finished with 147 yards on six catches.

The Eagles' Kenneth Guiton put on quite a show himself with 265 yards and 20 completions. But the two interceptions and 21 incomplete passes proved to Eisenhower's undoing.

Guiton would score only once in the second half, on a 12-yard throw to Gregory Timmons with 4:13 left to play.

One of Hightower's key defensive players Jelani Johnson was taken out of the game with an injury after he jumped to prevent a pass.
