Karam next in line at Texas Tech

Texas Tech is well known for throwing the ball all over the field. So the possibility of the Red Raiders and a young gun-slinging quarterback joining together in Lubbock seesm like a match made in heaven.

Well, it is a dream come true for Jacob Karam of Friendswood. The dual-threat QB is on his way to Lubbock after verbally committing to Mike Leach's Red Raiders. They say Leach's system helps the quarterback with monstrous number. That is not the case here as Karam already has an impressive resume before stepping foot on campus.

At Friendswood, the 6-foot, 197-pound Karam was lighting up high school defenses. Last season he had 3,058 yards passing with 37 touchdowns and only 9 interceptions. Add another 10 touchdowns rushing and you can see why Texas Tech feel like they got a steal.

Karam had attention from plenty of schools including Oklahoma, Missouri, Louisville, Arizona and Stanford. But Texas Tech was a perfect fit and was Tech?s only high profile QB recruit.

Karam is talented off the field also, playing piano since the age of 5. During some of his college visits he would play for students and took their requests. He also has a knack of entertaining restaurants with his piano man routine.

One thing is for sure, Texas Tech is hoping Karam makes sweet music on the field for the Red Raiders, and delivers the request of bringing a Big 12 Championship to Lubbock.
