East Texas - Week 4 Predictions

The Prep Ticket staff looks at the region's most intriguing match ups this week and picks the winners and losers.

No. 5 Longview vs. No. 4 Texas High

Both teams enter this game with plenty on the line and terrific offenses. Longview is led by quarterback Aaron Johnson who has thrown for 342 yards and running back Tyler McCray who has 371 yards on the ground. The Lobos defense will have their hands full against a talented Texas High squad that's thrown for 600 yards this season.

Our pick: Texas High 31, Longview 28

Lufkin at Mesquite

The Skeeters got off to a quick start this season before losing their last two games against tough squads in Naaman Forest and Southlake Carroll. One trend that Mesquite needs to buck in order to beat Lufkin is the fact that their offensive production has decreased in each game so far. Lufkin is just looking to get back in the swing of things after a loss last week following an open week due to Hurricane Ike.

Our pick: Mesquite 27, Lufkin 24

Flower Mound Marcus at Tyler Lee

Marcus has been on a roller coaster this season as the Marauders have alternated wins and losses over the first four games. Marcus rallied late last week, but still lost 17-14 to defending Class 5A Division II state champion Katy. Lee, meanwhile, has had a rough start to the season with losses to Lufkin, Longview and Abilene last week. The Red Raiders are a team that likes to grind the clock and limit possessions for the opposing teams.

Our pick: Marcus 31, Tyler Lee 14

Lewisville vs. Tyler John Tyler

John Tyler got off to a slow start this season, dropping its first couple of games, but has rebounded with wins over Arlington Lamar and Wichita Falls Rider the last two weeks. The Fighting Farmers will be taking the field for the first time in two weeks, but have pulled off a pair of wins in their first three games.

Our pick: John Tyler 28, Lewisville 24
