2008 Oklahoma All-State Football Team
The Daily Oklahoman recently released its All-State football team and if you go by their first-team picks, it looks like Oklahoma State cleaned up as far as its recruiting class.
Among the future Cowboys is Offensive Player of the Year Jeremy Smith of Tulsa Union and Defensive Player of the Year Daytawon Lowe of Carl Albert. Others soon to be setting foot in Stillwater include OL Michael Bowie of Sand Springs, OL Brandon Webb of Owasso and LB Colton Richardson of Ada.
Smith rushed for over 1600 yards and 30 touchdowns for the year. He was at his best when it counted, including a nearly 250-yard, 3 TD performance for Union in the 6A championship win over rival Jenks.
Lowe, one of the most prized defensive backs in the country, put up impressive numbers for Carl Albert. He recorded 127 tackles and 4 interceptions, returning all but one for a TD. Lowe also was a factor on offense, with nearly 400 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns.
Oklahoma?s recruiting class was well represented, placing 5 on the team. The future Sooners include DB Gabe Lynn of Jenks, DB Javon Harris of Lawton MacArthur, LB Ronnell Lewis of Dewar, DL Gabe Ikard of Bishop McGuinness and K Bryce Easley of Norman North.
Not to be outdone by OU and OSU, Tulsa had 3 recruits on the team; RB Timothy Flanders of Midwest City, OL Brian DeShane of Tulsa Union and LB Cody Wilson of Lincoln Christian.
Some picks chose to head west to the play in the Pac-10. Traimaine Thompson, Mr. All-Everything for Jenks, will suit up for Oregon State, along with LB Michael Doctor of Tulsa Washington.
