Carroll's Padron commits
Southlake Carroll quarterback Kyle Padron took an official visit recently to Southern Methodist University and was impressed enough to accept a scholarship offer from the school.
Padron impressed SMU coaches so much at the school's recent senior day workouts, that the Mustangs coaches extended the scholarship offer that Padron accepted on Friday.
The senior is the 13th commitment to SMU's Class of 2009, and the second quarterback to commit along with Chris Frazier of Dallas Skyline. Padron fits the mold of a June Jones-styled quarterback, whereas Frazier is a versatile player not necessarily best-suited at quarterback.

While the standings remained the same, the space between the top two teams shrank. This week, the Gators (11-0) garnered a .9664 average while Alabama (11-0) is second at .9614. Last week, Florida had a .9833 average and the Crimson Tide ranked second with a .9521 average, with that number being computed by averaging the percentage totals of the Harris Interactive poll, USA Today poll and computer rankings.
Florida and Alabama both won big this weekend and have one final hurdle remaining until the SEC Championship Game on December 5, which figures to serve as a de facto national semifinal if both stay undefeated until that date. The Gators host Florida State on Saturday, while the Crimson Tide visit Auburn for their annual Iron Bowl matchup. ... Continue
