The Prep Ticket staff looks at the region's most intriguing match ups this week and picks the winners and losers.

No. 5 Abilene vs. Tyler Lee

The Eagles enter Friday night coming off a thrilling 20-13 win over their crosstown rival in a game that was decided by goal line defense. The Red Raiders, on the other hand, had no problems in blowing out Dallas Kimball, scoring early and often in a 59-0 win.

Our pick: Abilene High 35, Tyler Lee 14

No. 5 Abilene Cooper at Garland

The Cougars struggled in the red zone last week and will be looking to redeem themself as a tough non-district slate of games continues. The Owls enter the contest with an unblemished 3-0 record, but have won their last two games by a combined five points.

Our pick: Abilene Cooper 42, Garland 38

Amarillo at No. 7 Odessa Permian

In a game that was supposed to pit the two District 2-5A favorites last week, Permian flexed its muscle in a 49-7 win over Lubbock Monterey. Meanwhile, the Sandies picked up the 700th win in school history when they knocked off crosstown rival Tascosa 40-27.

Our pick: Odessa Permian 56, Amarillo High 7

Amarillo Tascosa vs. Odessa High

The Bronchos have opened their season with three consecutive wins for the first time in three years and have done it playing pitch-and-catch. The Rebels, however, jumped out to a big lead early against Amarillo High before giving up 40 straight points in the middle two quarters.

Our pick: Odessa High 24, Amarillo Tascosa 21

Lubbock Coronado vs. Midland Lee

Last week the Mustangs fell 49-42 to Odessa High in a game that resembled an old Wild West shootout. Meanwhile, Lee picked up its first win of the season in dominating fashion with a resounding 49-21 thumping of Lubbock High -- which got a real-life lesson on the ride home.

Our pick: Lubbock Coronado 35, Midland Lee 17
