Cal RB Best leaves Oregon State game on stretcher

Berkeley, CA (Sports Network) - California star running back Jahvid Best left the 31-14 loss against Oregon State on a stretcher.

In the second quarter, Best took a handoff around the left end and leaped into the end zone on a seven-yard score. While in the air, he was hit and wound up landing on his back and knocking his helmet off as he hit the ground.

He was immediately attended to by medical staff and after several minutes he was immobilized, lifted on to a gurney and taken to a local hospital where the early diagnosis stated that he has a concussion with full movement in all his limbs.

On the season, the junior has 867 yards and 12 touchdowns on 141 carries. Over his career, he has 2,668 yards with 29 touchdowns on 364 carries along with 62 catches for 533 yards and six touchdowns.

He has several records in his career at Cal, including most all-purpose yards in a single season and most rushing yards in a game.
