Week 10 Playoff Projections

Just like that the 2009 regular season has come and gone. With just one game left on the schedule, a number of teams need a win to get into the playoffs and no game looms larger than Friday night's 8-5A showdown between Plano and Jesuit. While some districts have some complicated tie-breaker scenarios, the formula for this game is simple - win and your in.

That game will not only decide who the fourth team from 8-5A will be, it will also determine the course of defending state champion Allen. The Eagles enter the last week of the season with an 8-1 record and will be one of the favorites to win it all once again. The only question will be how hard of a road will they get?

A Plano win would push Allen to Division II this year and setup potential games with Southlake Carroll, Cedar Hill and defending state champion (D-II) Katy. A Jesuit win would mean Allen would be back in Division I and most media outlets would agree a slightly easier road with potential matchups with Euless Trinity, Dallas Skyline and Ft. Bend Hightower looming on the horizon.

In 4-5A, Lamar and Martin are facing a similar scenario. The winner of this game punches their ticket to the playoffs, while the loser goes home. The same holds true for the winner of the annual grudge match between Keller and Fossil Ridge. Euless Trinity, Grapvine and Colleyville Heritage have already clinched playoff spots in 5-5A.
