Updated Division II Brackets

No major surprises in the first round of the playoffs but this week the plot thickens as Allen and Southlake Carroll get ready to square off at Cowboys Stadium this Saturday night at 8 PM. Here's a look at how the favorites did last week.

1. Cedar Hill 11-0
The Longhorns were good enough to advance with a win but they'll need to play better to get to the big game. Plano West was able to stay close and the Marcus Marauders will be a tough out this week as well.

2. Allen 10-1
The Eagles took care of business as expected, shutting out Irving Nimitz, 35-0. The stakes are much bigger this week as they face Southlake Carroll in the area round. Allen has improved each week since losing the season-opener to Longview and enter the game as a slight favorite.

3. Southlake Carroll 10-1
The Dragons come into this week's game with a lot of momentum. Their 55-7 win over Colleyville Heritage was their most complete game of the season. They'll need another performance just like it to pull the upset on Allen.

4. Katy 10-1
While the powers in Region I continue to slug it out, the Tigers will continue to take advantage of a weaker Region III. A convincing 49-14 win over Stratford earned them a date with a very talented Atascocita team. If they can get past this week, the road looks clear until the state title game.
