Goodwin on the fast track to Texas

One of the fastest players on the recruiting trail is Rowlett wide receiver Marquise Goodwin.  Goodwin has run a 4.34 40.....enough said.  That is pure speed.  That kind of quickness was used to catch 44 passes for 651 yards and 7 touchdowns last year for Rowlett.  He is best used as a slot receiver, where he can catch the short slant and use his elusiveness to break free for a big gain.  Marquise is a tremedous route-runner, where he uses not only his speed, but his fluidity to come in and out of cuts.  He is a receiver who can always find a way to get open.

Goodwin has already accepted a track scholarship at the University of Texas. As a track star, Marquise is a world-class athlete as he won first place in the long jump at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Poland last summer. He also excells at the triple jump, 100 meters and the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams.

Goodwin hopes that Mack Brown will also get him on the field for football as well.  He could be an excellent compliment to the Longhorns' larger receivers, Malcom Williams, Dan Buckner and Greg Timmons.  One of Marquise's biggest strengths for Texas could be his ability to return kicks and punts. With his blazing speed and a running start, Goodwin could be hard to catch in the open field.
