National Signing Day: Hurst Makes Last Minute Switch

Demontre Hurst of Lancaster was ticketed to go to Stillwater to play for Oklahoma State. Then Oklahoma came calling.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound cornerback made an official visit to Norman over the weekend and decided the Sooners were the ones he wanted to suit up for. Hurst has signed a letter of intent to play for Oklahoma.

After committing to Oklahoma State, Hurst says he thought the recruiting process was over. But the Sooners began to some interest, which forced Hurst to rethink his commitment.

Hurst says OU was a dream school for him, and wanted to make what he says would be the right decision concerning his collegiate future. He also says he wanted to tell OSU with class that he decided to go in a different direction rather than no saying anything at all.

Lack of depth in the secondary has been a concern for the Sooners and the coaching staff is looking to Hurst to help with that. He has the ability to play safety or corner, which coaches feel is a big option for them.

Needless to say, Bedlam next year should be interesting to the newest member of the Sooner family.
