Duncanville's Dynamic Duo: Roger Franklin and Shawn Williams
When you look across scouting and recruiting basketball boards there are two names that appears at or near the top of the list. And if you have seen Duncanville's Shawn Williams and Roger Franklin play, you can understand why.
Williams, a 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward, is taking his game to Austin to play for the Texas Longhorns. Franklin, the energetic 6-foot-4, 203 pound forward, is heading to Stillwater along with teammate Reger Dowell to play for Oklahoma State.
Williams can hurt you from inside and out. He can attack the rim off the dribble or step out and drain it from beyond the arc. He is a very good offensive rebounder ad gets a lot of second chance points. Williams is averaging over 20 points and eight rebounds a game, both team highs.
Franklin is a tough player who comes to work everyday. He has a warrior-type mentality and finds a way to win games. Franklin is an excellent rebounder and has developed a solid face-up game. Franklin is averaging 18 points and seven rebounds a game.
Both Williams and Franklin are competitors, and have even competed against each other. They were rivals on AAU teams as fifth-graders, and didn't get along. Williams told The Dallas Morning News he didn't like Franklin and Franklin said the feeling was mutual. But they became teammates in middle school and now are best friends. They were even born in the same Oklahoma City hospital 70 days apart, with the same doctor performing the delivery.
As far as the here and now, Williams and Franklin only have one thing in mind, delivery a state title. Behind this duo Duncanville is considered one of the favorites to win it all.
After that, don't be surprised to see these two shoot it out in the Big 12 over the next few years.
