Turner Part Of Aggies 2009 Basketball Signing Class

It has been a busy time for Texas A&M basketball. The Aggies are fighting for a berth in the NCAA tournament and the never-ending recruiting battle rages on. However, the Aggies have managed to do just fine in that area as they have one of the top 2009 signing classes.

One of the headliners in that class is Houston Jesse Jones power forward Ray Turner. The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Turner committed to Texas A&M after receiving offers from Marquette, Baylor and TCU, among others.

Recruiting experts say Aggies head coach Mark Turgeon has a talented group coming to College Station and Turner adds to the haul. Coaches say Turner possesses good athleticism and leaping ability that is beneficial on both ends of the court, allowing him to hit the boards and finish strong.

Turner also has the ability to hit the 15-foot jumper, which will make him dangerous on pick plays. He is also a very physical forward that can dominate in the paint. He averaged 15.5 points during the 2008-09 season.

Turner joins Hyattsville (MD) DeMatha guard Naji Hibbert, South Charleston (SC) Porter Guard School forward Kris Middleton and Arcadia (LA) forward Kourtney Roberson in Texas A&M's 2009 recruiting class.
