Prep Ticket 2008 NBA Mock Draft
#1 – Chicago Bulls
Derrick Rose, G, Memphis
Simeon High School (Chicago, IL)
The Bulls have a tough choice to make, but it’s a good problem to have. There are two franchise-changing players at the top of this draft, but which one is right for Chicago? The question for the Bulls is this: do they want to start pushing Kirk Hinrich out the door and take Rose? Or do they add Beasley at forward, where he could play the 3 or the 4, where the Bulls already have Luol Deng and are developing Tyrus Thomas. Historically, it is safer to go with the guard over the big man, so we take Rose. At 6’3” and just under 200 pounds, Rose has an ideal body for an NBA point guard. Rose has a first step that is second to none, and he can score at will. Hinrich has been a solid guard, but Rose’s ceiling is much, much higher. >> Edit
